The key to a refreshed and youthful look is to keep it natural. As we age we begin to lose our ability to produce new elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid in the skin. At the same time we experience a loss of facial and lip volume. Unfortunately, this is an inevitable part of the ageing process.
Muscle relaxants are used to treat wrinkles and lines caused by repeated muscle movement, such as smile lines and forehead creases. They work by temporarily weakening the underlying muscles. Dermal fillers are used to plump up the skin by adding volume. They may be used to fill in wrinkles caused by sagging skin, to restore volume lost to the ageing process, or to enhance areas of the face such as the lips. Some patients undergo a combination treatment of both products for optimum results. The results of dermal fillers tend to be visible immediately and last 6-12 months, while the results of muscle relaxants take about a week to appear and usually last 3-6 months.
Dermal fillers can be used to help smooth away smile lines, create voluminous lips and shape facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, as well as hydrate and revitalise the skin. The most common areas treated are the nose to mouth lines (the nasolabial folds), the lips (adding volume and shape), the cheeks and jaw.
Immediately afterwards, minor side effects such as redness, swelling, and bruising are common. The treated area may also feel tender. These effects usually last 2-3 days and do not prevent patients from returning to work and other normal activities immediately after leaving our clinic. The results of most dermal filler injections are visible immediately and will stabilise after about a week after the initial swelling subsides. Muscle relaxants take about a week for the full effect to show.
These treatments have been used safely on millions of people, for decades and your practitioner has received extensive training to ensure your experience is a positive one with low risk. At The Fine Art, your safety is always our main concern.
For the period of time that these products have been available, no long-term or harmful side effects have been found to occur following repeat use. The products only work in the area treated and do not travel throughout the body. They simply metabolise and wear off, requiring the person to repeat the treatment, in order to maintain the effect.
Please come to your appointment with your face washed and void of all makeup. Immediately following your treatment, the skin will have numerous tiny punctures from the needles and these need time to heal. For this reason, makeup is not recommended until the next day.
No, you cannot. There is no conclusive medical evidence that says cosmetic injectable treatments are 100% safe for an unborn child or a baby being breast fed. For your baby’s safety we advise that you wait until your pregnancy is over and you have finished breast feeding. This rule extends to women who are also trying to conceive, naturally or through IVF.
No, you cannot. At The Fine Art we will not treat any person who is under-age. We reserve the right to request government issued identification for any patient who looks younger than 20 years old.
